Watercolorist Ken Frye is a prominent master of Classical Realism, exemplified by his works with architectural subjects. He has invested more than 30 years developing his unique painting style based on this artistic movement. In addition to painting landmarks in and around Washington, DC, Mr. Frye has been actively involved in the artistic community in Cape May, New Jersey, for over 35 years, creating lasting images of Victorian architecture, beach scenes, and private homes. His gentle paintings of rural America have also recently gained popularity.
Mr. Frye was born and raised in the Amish country of northeastern Ohio. He studied painting at Miami University, received his master's degree from The American University, and did his doctoral work at Syracuse University. Mr. Frye was formerly based in his own gallery in the Washington, DC neighborhood of Georgetown. He resides in Falls Church, Virginia. Mr. Frye accepts commissions for watercolor paintings of homes and other places. His exhibit at Ayr Hill Gallery opens on November 27, 2009.
